analyzer: "There have been times where someone is going to cancel a permit, and lets people on here know. I would think if someone wanted that permit, the person who has it, could add the other party as an alternate, and then just not go. Can’t add alternates after a permit has already been booked. Otherwise people could sell the permits they booked to the highest bidder and just add them as alternates. I’ve given heads up when I’m gonna cancel a permit, but it’s just so folks can watch the website and snatch it up, wouldn’t be possible to just add someone as an alternate at that point. |

I would think if someone wanted that permit, the person who has it, could add the other party as an alternate, and then just not go. Interesting. Thanks, I didn't know that. That kinda sucks, I might get my brother n law and his kids to go with us this year, and would have liked to add him as an alternate. Not a deal breaker though, they wouldn't likely be going without us. But stuff happens. My knee was causing me problems last summer, to the point where I couldn't do a trip. IF that becomes an issue again, I could see me staying home. Then they'd be kinda screwed. |

I don’t and haven’t had any glitches with Safari on a mobile but it might help if you are not using Chrome. I hope it works better for you in the future yogi. |

yogi59weedr: " USFS joined the modern computer-based reservation system that thousands of other government run outdoors venues use regardless of demand. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. |

I'm just gonna have to start over make sure all passwords and everything is all online. Then get in and pick a few entry points that have many permits and get in and order a few then turn around and cancel them. And wait for next year. Get set up for alerts from this group. I've gone to the ranger station to check on availability and received permits turned back in. |

OMGitsKa: "I will be available for hire next year - name your permit. Money back guarantee. " I don’t know if you’re serious, but I have had the same thoughts. I have had really good success getting motor permits and have some ideas on how to scale that without running afoul of the rules. For folks who need help securing permits but don’t need additional outfitting, I feel there is a gap in the services provided. Yogi, sorry to hear you got bit again. I didn’t pull any basswood day motors this year or I’d have been happy to add you on the stubs. |

I'm "only" looking for overnight paddle permits--nothing motorized--and while chances then are better, it's still a mad scramble and after early on in the process, only leftovers remain. My first break from work to apply this AM was at about 10:45. By that time the date I wanted for the entry point I wanted was gone so had to look at my second choice of the next day of which I was able to grab the last one for that entry point. In the past, I've gladly paid outfitters to do this for me but when I asked this year of an outfitter convenient to our planned trip, I was turned away with them telling me they no longer offer that service. |

OMGitsKa: "I will be available for hire next year - name your permit. Money back gauruntee. ". How much are you charging? I'm in! ( although I'm worried your mis-spelling might void the guarantee) :) |

yogi59weedr: "Lol thanks Adam. No biggie I'm going to work on it Try to figure why it keeps kicking me out when I was already logged in. I'm going to try a few lakes south of Ely this year. I've fished those lakes and camped on one of them...not bad choices at all. Watch your prop on the rocks on Silver Island, but otherwise nice campsites and great walleye. |

I know my computer skills are my fault. Just want the playing field to be fair. Happened last year also. Frustrating to say the least. But... I'll still go up to that area and have fun. Plenty of lakes to choose from outside the BWCA.... ARRGGHH... |

Could probably do that to help a board member who is unable to jump on right at 9 am, or is struggling to work through the reservation system. Reserve it under A and B, when it's really for B. |

Sparkeh: "Sign up for the permit notification system. It worked for us. When someone cancels a permit for the ep and month you want to go it sends you an email with the newly open date. Luckily our ep and entry date had one cancelation yesterday morning. " Yep, it works. Just booked a Wood Lake permit yesterday morning for the middle of August. That is one of the EP that filled up in minutes. Got the alert from BWCA.com and went and got the permit. |
