other than your diagonal lay, does width matter? I have 2 hammocks that are both about 56" wide. At 6'2" and 200lbs, should I be looking at a wider hammock?

I think you should be good. I am 6 feet and about 230. Have never had a problem on the width. If anything, being a little shorter than you, I tend still to prefer a longer hammock. I just like the feeling of having more space, even if I don't need it. 56 inches is almost 5 feet, so I think it should be more than enough unless you are built like a refrigerator.
