Hi enthusiasts. I’m looking at buying a used 2007 Wenonah Minnesota ll Kevlar canoe. 18.5 ft. 42 pounds that’s in good condition. Asking price is $1,500. Curious to get opinions about this deal and canoe. Based on my own research, this seems like a great canoe! Price seems reasonable, too.

What’s your take? Good price? Good canoe?

Thank you!

That's not a terrible deal for that canoe. Maybe on the high side for the age. You could probably find one 10 years newer for the same or real close. I'd offer $1350. The MN II is a very popular model. It's somewhat unstable for a tandem because it's long and narrow when compared to other Wenonah's. It's fast for a tandem. Don't get me wrong, it's plenty stable loaded, but if you take it out with no gear fishing or on a day trip with minimal gear it "responds" quick. I wouldn't hesitate, but negotiate on that price if it's only in "good" condition.

It doesn't hurt to negociate, but if the canoe has been stored properly and cared for reasonably, that is a decent price these days.

Something else to consider is the physical size of your bow paddler. The bow of the MN II is quite narrow and could be uncomfortable for a taller or larger person. Food for thought.

Sunlight is an enemy to Kevlar, if you haven't, I'd inquire where/how it's been stored.

This is a great point.

I trip with my brothers and cousin 6'2", 6'3" and 6'4"- Never had an issue with the MNII- the bow station is narrow in order to facilitate paddling, it's one of the design features that make it move. All three are under 200# though.
